Cars Sales Worldwide falling


The sales of passenger vehicles across all major countries are weakening with the exception of Brazil. New car sales in Japan and Russia were down by a percentage point while the US and European markets have declined by more than 2 percent. The Chinese market has seen a major decrease by falling 15%, Followed by its neighbor India seeing a decrease of 6%.



New light and passenger vehicle registrations in various major car markets around the world monitored by the VDA were as follows in April and the first four months of 2019:



Stronger Car Sales in Brazil in 2019 (April)
The light vehicle registrations in Brazil increased by 5.5% to 222,700 cars though the economy of Brazil is losing its shine
Brazil being the only major car market to grow has expanded by 8.8% to 803200 cars.

Stronger Car Sales in Japan in 2019 (April)
In April, Brazil and Japan were the only two major markets to expand. Japan’s passenger vehicle registrations have increased by 3.3% to 315000 in April this year. However, considering the market for this year, the market has dropped 1.1% to 15891300 cars.

Flat Car Sales in Europe in April 2019
New passenger vehicle registrations in European Union stayed level in April. The car market in Germany lowered 1%, the UK was down by 4%. France car markets remained unaffected, while Italian and the Spanish car market swell slightly by 1% and 3% respectively.
However, overall car market declined by 2.5% to little lower than 5.5 million cars.

Weaker Car Sales in Russia in 2019 (April)
Russia’s light vehicle sales have fallen by 2.7% in April to 148,300 cars. During the first four months the vehicles sales in Russia weakened by 1%.

Weaker Car Sales in the USA in 2019 (April)
One of the biggest markets, the US reduced by 1.7% to 1,330,600 vehicles in April. Thus far in 2019, market shrunk by 2.2% to 5,323,300.

Very Weak Car Sales in India in 2019 (April)
In April 2019, new car market in India shrunk by 17.1% to 247,500 cars – the sixth successive month of slimming down in India. Car sales in India are usually lower during the election period that could drag on into May and still sway the market during the middle of the year.
During January to April 2019, the Indian new car market reduced by nearly 6% to touch higher than a million cars.

Very Weak Car Sales in China in 2019 (April)
Tightening in the Chinese new car market reinforced in April 2019 when new car sales were downhill by 18% to around 1.5 million cars.
Thus far in 2019, new passenger vehicle registrations in China thinned by 15% to 6.7 million cars. However, the Chinese new car market stays by far the leading single car market in the world.
