Gone are those days where cars from each manufacturer used
to be exclusive and had its own characteristic. There are so many cars on the
road today. Many manufacturers are coming up with a multitude of models with updated
features and designs every year. I believe because of the competition, the
manufacturers are following cost-effective, time-saving, efficient designs and
features rather than investing more time and creating a distinctive car like
old times. Here are a few trends that are annoying car lovers.
The growing trend of SUVs
We are having too
much of these! Every manufacturer is coming up with 10 different types of SUVs.
Compact SUV, luxury SUV, sports SUV and what not. We don’t know which the real
SUV is now.
Crossover
This is another class of car which is flooding the roads.
The design is so confusing and looks like it has taken a bit of everything and
has become a separate category. Though the name suggests it is a crossover and
it should have a fuel economy of a passenger car and off-road capability that
of an SUV; car lovers are of denial that crossovers are neither providing the
fuel economy of passenger car nor the off-road capability of an SUV.
Compact Sedan
Sedans are known for
their luxury, leg space and amazing control on highways. The compact sedan has
taken away all the features and power that makes a sedan and giving us just the
look of a sedan, only just.
Same design elements
Not just the trend of
categories is annoying but also the designs within the category. For example,
BMW 3 series sedan looks like a shorter version of 5 series sedan. Suzuki Dzire
is nothing but a boot added to swift and so-forth.
Fake air vents and exhaust
We can see these in a
lot of budgeted cars, especially in the entry variants. They look even more
unsightly with the unpainted fake parts that come from the factory.
Extravagant Large grills
Most luxury car makers are intensifying the grill game
increasing the dimension of the grill as big as they can get, making the front
look awful. We hope in the near future we don’t see just the grill in the front
portion of cars.
Complicated dashboard
New cars are coming up with a plethora of features and the
dashboard is getting overfed with tons of them. The new systems make the driver
seat look like a cockpit. Who wants to sit in a car with a complicated cock-pit
and drive an artificial intelligence controlled car?
Addition of cheap plastic inserts on
front/rear bumpers
Honestly, how many of
you really like these cheese graters that car maker is slapping on so many
models.

misses those days where cars felt emotionally pure.
